To celebrate the 100th anniversary of Federation, the Royal Australian Mint issued coins for each Australian state and territory with a reverse design represented by the coat of arms (50 cents) and other symbols and emblems. The reverse designs on the twenty cents were made by students who were the winners of the Royal Australian Mint's student design competition for their state. This was a national competition for primary and secondary school students to design a coin to represent their state or territory. Read more »
