Shilling - 1910 to 1936 - Price Guide
In 1910, the first distinctive Australian Commonwealth coins, struck at the Royal Mint in London, were introduced. It was a somewhat jinxed start for Australian currency. The range was incomplete as no pennies or halfpennies were struck. The first shipment, consisting exclusively of shillings, arrived on 1st March, 1910.
In 1919, 1923, 1929 1930 and 1932, no shilling was produced.
In the shilling series, the scarcest dates are 1915 H, 1921 star and 1933. For unclear reasons, the date 1922 was badly struck in all silver denominations. Well struck-up examples of the dates 1924, 1926 and 1927 are also difficult to find.
