Florin - 1938 to 1952 - Price Guide
San Francisco assisted the Melbourne Mint between 1942 and 1944 to produce Florins. In 1951, a commemorative reverse was produce to commemorate the 50th year of Federation. Until 1945, florins were minted in .925 fine silver. From 1946 onwards, the silver content was reduced to .500 fine. From 1948 to 1950, no florin was produced.
For the years 1937 to 1947, the obverse legend was: GEORGIVS VI: D: G: BR: OMN: REX F: D: IND: IMP. This was changed to: GEORGIVS VI D: G: BR: OMN: REX FIDEI DEF. in 1951 and 1952.
