Coins and Australia - Fifty cent 2023 - Australian coins price guide and values

AC/DC is an Australian music icon and 2023 celebrates 50 years since forming in 1973. To recognise Australia’s most popular rock band, the Royal Australian Mint released coins. This program follows the release of the AC/DC 45th anniversary program released in 2018.

AC/DC was formed in 1973 by brothers Malcolm and Angus Young, with Angus Young the only remaining original member.

Founded in Sydney, the group takes their name from the abbreviation of alternating current / direct current electricity. Suggested by Malcom and Angus’s sister, Margaret Young. The group thought the name was representative of their high-energy and powerful musical style.

The Royal Australian Mint honoured Queen Elizabeth II with a 50 cents coin design. The design celebrate the Queen's seven decades of devotion and service, as well as the mark she has left on Australian numismatics.

Australia’s Great Race at Bathurst reaches a special milestone in 2023, the 60th anniversary of its first running in 1963 at the Mount Panorama circuit. Built on the back of the legendary Holden and Ford rivalry, the annual race has made household names of Allan Moffat, Dick Johnson and so many others, including the women who have challenged the race.
