Queensland National Bank Limited - Banknotes
The Queensland National Bank Limited was established in Brisbane in 1872. It rapidly expanded to be one of the largest financial institutions in Queensland. The financial downturn of 1893 caused the bank to suspend payments for a period. After reopening, the bank remained weak, leading to a further reconstruction of activities in 1897.
The National Bank of Australasia Limited took over the company in 1948, now a part of the National Australia Banking Group Limited.
