Port Phillip Bank - Banknotes

The Port Phillip Bank was established in Melbourne in 1839 during a boom economic period. The bank performed poorly, surviving for only 4 years. In 1843 the shareholders liquidated the company. The design on all of the bank's notes featured a vignette of a female with an anchor.
