Colonial Bank, Van Diemens Land - Banknotes

The Colonial Bank was established in Hobart Town in 1840 during a pastoral boom. The company failed to attract sufficient investors to ensure its survival. It was soon apparent that if it carried on, losses would accumulate. After only three years of operation, the bank ceased to trade in 1843 and all remaining assets were liquidated.
