Bank of Queensland Limited - Banknotes
The Bank of Queensland Limited was established in Brisbane in 1863 during boom economic conditions. The institution was never strong, surviving for just 3 years before financial losses, caused mainly by the bankruptcy of a number of large contracting companies in Brisbane, led to its failure in 1866.
Notes were issued from branches in Brisbane, Dalby, Ipswich, Rockhampton, Roma and Townsville to a total value of approximately £30,000.
