NBU (Numismatic Brilliant uncirculated): Coins not intended for circulation struck and sold by the Mint, often in a special package. For most NBU certified coins, they are attributed the MS grades, unless a circulation coin wasn't produce for that particuliar combinaison of year, denomination and design. While not quite non circulating legal tender it is not too unusual to find coins intended for mint sets in circulation.
While these coins might bear the same design as normal circulating coins their lustre and quality of strike sometimes makes them stand out from the norm.

Twenty-five cent 2017 - Victoria Cross
The Victoria Cross is the highest award for acts of gallantry in the face of the enemy during wartime. It was instituted in 1856 by Queen Victoria during the Crimean War. It has been bestowed under the Imperial honours system for service in the Boer War, the First and Second World Wars, the Russian Civil War and the Vietnam War. Four Australian soldiers have been awarded the Victoria Cross for Australia, introduced in 1991, for actions in Afghanistan.

Twenty-five cent 2017 - Distinguished Service Cross
The Distinguished Flying Cross was awarded to British and Commonwealth airmen for acts of valour, courage and devotion to duty while flying on active operations during wartime. The award was established in 1918, shortly after the formation of the Royal Air Force, and was bestowed on recipients for service in the First and Second World Waeds, Korea and Vietnam.

Twenty-five cent 2017 - Medal for Gallantry
The Medal of Gallantry is awarded to members of the Australian Defence Force for gallant acts under hazardous conditions in operational conflicts including Afghanistan, Iraq, Rwanda and Vietnam. Introduced in 1991, it is one of the top three gallantry decorations in the Australian honours system. The medal has been presented more than 65 times, including to two recipients of the Victoria Cross for Australia: Corporal Ben Roberts-Smith and Corporal Cameron Baird.

Twenty-five cent 2017 - George Cross
The George Cross was instituted by King George VI during the Second World War as the second highest award for gallantry after the Victoria Cross. It recognises courageous acts by civilians and by service personnel not in the face of the enemy or where usual military honours would not apply. It was awarded 22 times to Australians between 1940 and 1992, when Australia moved from the Imperial honours system to its own.
